It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debdas “Dave” Ghosal, P.E., Founder & Emeritus of CSI Engineering (CSIE). Dave passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 85.
Dave was a highly respected engineer, visionary leader, and dedicated mentor. Throughout his life, he remained deeply committed to serving his community, supporting his colleagues, and caring for his family and friends. His leadership, integrity, and generosity left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in 1941 in Assam, India, Dave demonstrated an early aptitude for mathematics and problem-solving. He earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University in 1965, graduating as a gold medalist, and later completed a post-graduate diploma from Roorkee University (IIT).
Dave began his engineering career with Siemens India (1965–1967), followed by roles with Indian Railways (1968–1975) and the Bank of India (1976–1978), where he contributed to significant infrastructure and engineering initiatives across India.
In November 1978, Dave immigrated to the United States, where he continued to build an accomplished career. Between 1978 and 1987, he held key engineering and leadership roles at Eletrac, DeLeuw Cather & Co., Bechtel Corporation, and Com-Site International.
In 1987, drawing on his experience, insight, and entrepreneurial spirit, Dave founded CSI Engineering (CSIE). As President and CEO, he guided the firm’s growth into a recognized leader in mission-critical Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering design and support services, with a strong focus on resiliency and innovation.
CSI Engineering will continue to honor Dave’s legacy by upholding the values he instilled and by delivering high-quality solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including data centers, mass transportation systems, technology environments, laboratories, and administrative buildings for both government and commercial clients.
Dave’s legacy of leadership, mentorship, and excellence will endure through the people and organization he built.
