Overview

CSIE performed a study to determine the planning and engineering design requirements for the relocation and expansion of American International Group’s data center operation at a proposed site. Services performed by CSIE included Master planning, Construction monitoring, Telecommunication design, Security design, Computer hardware planning, Migration planning and Construction Administration Facilities engineering issues were identified and design strategies were developed concerning critical space planning issues and data center environmental support systems. Recommendations were made for relocating and expansion of the data center to occupy approximately 47,340 square feet of space in the new facility, including a 3,800 square foot structure housing mechanical and electrical support equipment. Additional recommendations included general construction to convert the currently unoccupied space to data center standards; new mechanical systems serving the data center independent of the house mechanical systems and provided with redundant and dedicated backup equipment, and new fire suppression systems; and new electrical systems serving the data center, including an uninterruptible power supply and emergency generator system with appropriate reliability and redundancy characteristics.
